A recent poll for the Wall Street Journal and NBC News concluded Americans hate social media but they can’t or won’t give it up.
This week on The Deciders Renee Fraser talks to Jeff Horwitt, one of the researchers who conducted that poll about the surprising findings. 82% say social media wastes our time and 55% say it spreads falsehoods but at the same time 70% report they check in once a day or more often.
The survey found Americans are struggling with social media and they want more government regulation. 57% say social media divides us, and 42% say they’ve made an effort to limit their time on social media.
The poll found that discomfort with social media is in all groups surveyed but highest among men, older people, Republicans, and supporters of President Trump.
